Welcome to Seedlings Day Nursery

Seedlings is a popular independent day nursery located in South East London.

We first opened in 2004 to cater for local demand and offer full day care for children from 4 months to 5 years. In 2010 we expanded by adding a new unit to provide 49 places altogether and we are open all year round.

Little Seedlings Nursery is now open!!!!

We are pleased to announce that Little Seedlings Nursery is now open. (35 Sunderland Road, Forest Hill)

We have availability for new children under 5. We offer part time and full times places.

Unfortunately, the 2 year old funded places for April-August have now been taken.
We aim to create a relaxed, friendly environment where children can explore at their own pace, with an emphasis on outdoor activities.
Due to the setting’s layout, younger and older children mix together, learn from each other and interact, but they will also have their age appropriate group activities to move them forward in all areas
We have a dedicated chef who prepares meals from scratch in the well equipped kitchen (4 meals a day: breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack)
The menu is the same as at Seedlings Day Nursery (egg and nut free/ catering for allergies and dietary needs)
Our two sites will collaborate on projects, events and children will be able to visit each other as an outing, borrow resources, play together etc

Level 2 or 3 qualified or willing to train to reach that level

Healthy Early Years London (HEYL)

Birthday celebrations in a healthier way 17th January 2022

In line with our aim to further reduce sugary foods, we kindly ask parents not to bring in birthday cakes from now on. Of course, we are not stopping you from having cake at home to celebrate. However, we feel that with a few changes, we can cut out around 20 extra treats for each child over the course of the year.

Different ways of celebrating:

Singing with the group as before,
Birthday boy/girl will be sitting on a special chair, wearing a birthday hat, can bring in dressing up clothes as well
We’ll have candles on playdough base
Parents are welcome to provide healthy snacks for children to give out to their friends in Cabin and Preschool groups as at that age they understand a bit more about sharing and giving
Healthy, fresh, uncut fruit – we will prepare the fruits on a platter
- Grapes, satsumas, oranges, apples, pears, melon, plum, peach, nectarine, mango, pineapple, papaya, – no berries or nuts, please
No dried fruits as they are high in sugar – we use them as part of pudding for main meal not for snack

I want to say that it is with a heavy heart that we depart this nursery and our son has loved seeing everyone every day. We enjoyed the interaction and you have a really wonderful staff.

February 2018

Staff at Seedlings have always been nurturing and kind to our children, speaking calmly and clearly, using positive language to model and encourage behaviour they wish to see. We know that staff care about the well-being of our children which is something we particularly value due to their young age. The girls are encouraged to be respectful to staff and other children and enjoy playing alongside their peers. Both children have developed strong relationships with their respective key workers, which has been key to them settling quickly.

Summer 2018

We find the staff friendly, nurturing and focused on the children. We have been happy with the positivity shown by each and every member of staff …. We have also been really pleased with the settling in plans provided for both children, enabling me to feel confident in leaving both children with you on my return to work (a very emotional time!). The transition between different groups has also been planned and has gone smoothly and our daughter has always enjoyed the new group she has entered and we have always felt welcomed by both the staff and other parents. The overall community feel of the nursery is excellent and I have enjoyed getting to know other parents through your own events and away from the nursery.

I cannot begin to thank you all for the incredible love, car and support all the staff at Seedlings have given our daughter over the last few years.

She has absolutely loved being at Seedlings. We feel lucky to have fund such a fantastic nursery for our little girl to experience. I am alwasy filled with happiness when I pick her up and see her smiling, playing and always having fun.

Thank you in particular for helping her develop a taste for food other than plain pasta. thank you to all the staff who have looked after her.
